Mr. Funderburk is doing well but still recuperating at home. If anyone would like to donate sick leave to him , please see Mrs. Sawyer for the form. He will be out for several weeks still and any days donated will help. He would also welcome any phone calls and emails. Please see me if you would like his phone number.

Teachers, please make sure you register for planning days. Print a copy of your registration and give to Mrs. Sawyer.

September 15, 2009
Today is day 2 on the specials calendar.
Staff meeting in media center at 7:30.
First grade planning day.
Yesterday's Drop Everything and Read event was a great success. I briefly walked around before I started reading and saw many staff members participating as well-hopefully we will have another one soon and let's all pitch in.
Skate night had a great turn out last night. The students wanted to see me skate, but I'm no dummy! Students who attended last night earned a homework pass. Please honor that for 1 night free for homework. It would not of course be used for a project or long term assignment, but for one night's routine assignments. Working with our families encourages participation in events like this and they only take place every couple of months or so.
Welcome to Mrs. Tawanda Briton, who is our lunch monitor starting yesterday. For those who don't have scheduled duty free on a particular day, don't leave your class yet. I want to make sure she is comfortable with how we do things in the cafeteria and your presence will be needed.
Once duty free starts fully, teachers are expected to escort students to the cafeteria and serving lines and pick them up on time.

Today is Day 1 on the Specials calendar.

K planning day. (pm).
Room 707 in Pod will be used as the planning day conference room. Mrs. Alexander-Gieollo (half time ESL) is using the room in the morning, but will be gone when planning days start.
Skate Night-6:30 at Skate Haven
Announcements will be done over the intercom for a while. The video equipment is down until needed equipment is returned.
Staff meeting-tomorrow at 7:30 sharp.
Today homeroom teachers can begin duty free lunch using classroom or grade level assistants. The lunch monitor is expected to start today. She will have to be trained in PBS procedures. Please do not leave your class if today is not your scheduled DF lunch day. Once she is trained, we will let you know.
Please leave lesson plans on your desks this afternoon for review. My email Friday should have clarified what is expected.
PLC schedules will be emailed today. We will start PLC's the week of the 28th. I will be asking teachers to read an excerpt from Revisiting Professional Communities at Work( big green book) to begin understanding how PLC's will be organized.
Teachers should also be receiving a schedule for evaluation this week from the administrator assigned to you. PDP and observation pre-conferences will be based on the teacher self assessment.
PBS corner-Please encourage students to take part in the raffles for basketball game and ice cream party. The shopping is going well. Please remember any donations will be welcome.
Using PBS rules with consistency make the biggest difference.
