Today is Day 4 on the Specials calendar.
School improvement Team meeting today at 3:15 in the media center
Staff meeting tomorrow at 3:15.
Painting on the outside trim and doors may begin today or tomorrow, depending on the weather conditions. The same schedule applies for completion of the parking lot.
Please make copies of the weekly update and plan accordingly.
Teacher assistants in grades K and 1 need to accompany students to computer lab for the next few sessions.
Classroom walkthroughs will begin this week. Remember, these walkthroughs are 4-7 minutes and are not part of any evaluation process. Walkthroughs are a data collecting process used to provide information on instructional practices that could be identified to help or improve student achievement. Feedback and data from walkthroughs will be discussed at PLC meetings. Each administrator is expected to do 15 walkthroughs a week, so we will be in frequently.
We will begin PBS procedures governing arrivals this week. The late policy will be in force and communicated to parents.
Classroom teachers have received the parent handbooks. Please send them home this week. For older students, it would be appropriate to review certain parts of the student handbook. Remind students to return the signature page. Sounds like a good reason to give a den dollar, doesn't it?
PBS question of the day-I believe that some consideration should be given to the age of the child before calling it a level three offense. Example stealing-some youung children may not have learned the concept of taking something they see and keeping it as an incorrect behavior. I would hesitate writing them up for a single infraction. The same goes for vandalism.
It is important for all staff to consistently implement this approach. If a child commits a level three offense, writing a D-1 informs administrators and allows the appropriate action to be taken. WSFCS guidelines allow administrators flexibility in addressing the situation including a student conference or parent contact. Every level three consequence will not be punitive or restrictive in nature (time out or suspension) The age of the student along with other mitigating factors will always be taken into consideration.
We had a great student kickoff and first week. Let's give out those den dollars generously since raffles will start this week. We will show excerpts of the video on a regular basis.
