Today is day 4 on the specials calendar
4th grade planning day
Teacher Working Conditions survey(deadline 4/16), State Health Plan (deadline 4/09) and Intent for 2010-11 forms (deadline 4/16) are on line. Any certified staff member that missed the meeting on Tuesday needs to get the Teacher Working conditions log-in from Robin Donnelly.
In the coming weeks, you may be asked to participate in other data gathering by members of the administrative team. We are in the process of beginning a comprehensive needs assessment. You may be asked to answer a few questions concerning the history of Gibson, your instructional practices, assessments and parental involvement. The results will be shared with SIT and the staff in general.

Little Symphony performance-10:30 grades 1-3
TWC survey on line-please fill take a few minutes to complete it. It will be worth the time-now through April 16

Teacher intent on-line form now through April 16. If anyone wants to do the survey as a group, I am going to ask Mr. Torian to open the lab up Thursday afternoon after-school this week and a couple of times next week as well.
Thank you for the questions and ideas concerning PBS at yesterday's meeting. The ideas presented will really help the committee refine our processes. Please continue to model and remind your students about Gibson's PBS program in Preparation for our assessment. Everyone has done a great job.
Parent Assistant meeting March 24. This meeting is very important.
Please make sure students are actively supervised during recess. As it gets warmer, students become much more aggressive, intentionally or not. Students should participate in structured games at least two to three times a week. Every day should not be free play.

Today is day 2 on the specials calendar
Correction-Little symphony performance on Wednesday will be for First, second and third grades only. I sent an email yesterday afternoon concerning the change. The program will start around 10:30 and last about 45 minutes. First grade classes that will need to start lunch may quietly slip out if need be. Specialists will need to come take second grade students having specials at that time to the gym and stay until special time ends.
Staff meeting-after school after buses leave.
The State Health Plan is on-line and the link is on the WSFCS web page. It is fairly easy to navigate. Open enrollment ends April 9th.
The Teacher Working Conditions survey log in will be available at this afternoon's staff meeting. If you would like a survey before this afternoon, see Mrs. Donnelly. The Survey ends April 16th.
PBS corner-Staff expectations for playground include active supervision. With the weather warming up, more classes will be outside and the potential for problems increase. Make sure you are actively supervising students at all times. I will address this topic more this afternoon.
Picture day is Monday March 22 and EOQ testing begins as well. Mrs. Snipes will have a schedule ready before then. Younger students will probably have to go first.
PLC's may be held during planning day if your grade level has planning this week.

Today is day 4 on the specials calendar
Third grade field trip today.
Today you should see a new display in the lobby-Principals' PRIDE PACK. I described the process in an earlier post. You will also get a note to send home with students today.
PBS corner-Trish Gladstone will be at our next staff meeting (March 16). If you have any questions or concerns you would like her to address, please send them to Ron by Monday, March 15.
Staff expectations: Please remember that an expectation for all homerooms teachers is to stand by your doors to greet children as they enter. Many are doing it (thanks) and many are not.(I know you can do it). Please remember that consistency is the key.
Very Important-Please keep one day during the week of March 22-26 open for a potential staff meeting. Betty Weycker, assistant superintendent for technology, will be here hopefully to discuss Parent Assistant. This is a new web based program that gives parents unprecedented access to information that we are expected to provide through NCWISE. This is a mandatory meeting for all staff. You need to hear it as a parent and a staff member. The tentative date is unknown at this time but I should have an answer tomorrow.
