Today is day 2 on the specials calendar
After-school tutoring for 3-5 grades
Special PBS Edition-Today's blog will contain several important announcements about PBS. Please respond accordingly.
We will begin the staff and student "ROAR" recognitions this week. Please fill out the form in the staff mail room so we can recognize staff and students for the great things they do at our school.
Our PBS "booster shot" assemblies will be held next Thursday. The purpose of these assemblies is to refocus everyone (staff and students alike) on our core values and expectations. The assembly will be great and there will be many surprises on hand. K-2 students will come to the gym at 9 and 3-5 students will come to the gym at 10. Please bring den dollars to the assembly because we want all staff to distribute den dollars at that assembly.
With that in mind, now is the time to "blitz" students with den dollars. Let's have the same energy we started with at the beginning of the school year. We are seeing students with varying amounts of den dollars in the school store.
Also always remember to let students know why they get the den dollar; a quick phrase like"Thanks for showing politeness by---" or "I like the way you showed excellence when you --"
A good suggestion is to ask the student why they are getting the den dollar before you give it. Some staff members have reported students really know why at times. This approach will help when our school undergoes PBS assessment this spring.
With so many subs in the building, reinforce expectations with students before the subs are needed. Since most subs don't understand the PBS system, reminding students that subs dollars are worth more may help them the stay on task. (Yes, I realize this all seems to be heavily extrinsic motivation and that's OK at this point in the process)
Finally, we want to ask questions at the assembly-If there are specific problems that you would like us to address, just send them to me or add as a comment to the blog and hopefully the PBS committee can create a question from the ideas submitted.

Today is day 1 on the specials calendar
SES tutoring today
Today students will receive information about the choice process for 2010-2011. Please make sure this information goes home and please return any responses to the main office.
This time of year we usually have many students enrolling to start the new semester. We have enrolled several students in just the first two days of this week. Thank you for welcoming these new students to our school. Please notify the office of any material needs you may have and we will do our best to meet them quickly.
The reverse applies as well. We have some students to withdraw. Please make sure any required information and or records are returned to Mrs. Winn as soon as possible. Students' records cannot be released to their new schools until records are complete. We all know how it feels to have to wait for records to get a complete picture of a student.
Thank you to everyone who sent in submissions for our last Gibson Gazette. The next submission is due January 29. The topic is Hope and Dreams. I would like each class to have submissions in this edition. The Gazette is a great opportunity for some our our students to shine and show pride in their own efforts. If you haven't has a chance to read then latest copy, take some time to do so. You will be as impressed as I always am.
Also, The student and class books for our annual publishing will be due March 29. Never too late to plan ahead.
