Today is day 2 on the specials calendar.
Special thanks goes out to our ESL staff. We had an excellent turnout for our annual ESL parent night. Parents enjoyed themselves and learned a lot of information.
Zone 4 Principals meeting in the media center from 7:30-9:00.
Please make the following adjustment to your calendar: report cards will go home on November 10, not November 11. November 11 is Veteran's day and there will be no school. Other deadlines apply. Feel free to bein working on your electronic report cards. The information shared on the workshop on the 27th will just enhance your knowledge and make sure everyone understands the expectations. Instead of turning in a jump drive, All report cards will be downloaded to the R drive. Also, you will learn new parts to the spreadsheet.
Comprehension skill of next week: Summarizing
Marzano skill: Reinforcing Effort. As you develop lessons, please incorporate these strategies and skills.
I will include all important dates and deadlines in this blog as well as the weekly update. Please review Kim and Kendra's blogs weekly to get tips and ideas and support as well as important dates and deadlines.

Today is day 1 on the specials calendar.
Please remember any changes in Blue Diamond are due today in preparation for our first End of Quarter test.
Post any comments from the Cooperative Learning reading by tomorrow, October 9. We shall have workshops as well to learn more about this high yield strategy. See yesterday's blog about which staff meeting dates will be used for training.
Comprehension skill of the week: Sequencing
Marzano strategy of the week: Classifying. Please let your administrator know of special activities you are doing with these skills. We look forward to seeing great examples of these techniques as we visit classrooms.
Don't forget the smartboard training offered next week as well as the Touchmath training offered next week as well.
ESL night tonight 5:30-7:30
PBS corner: Please remember as a part of Dismissal protocols is to have children ready to go when they are called. Please don't wait until a child's group (bus rider, car rider, etc) is called to have them pack up to leave. They should have time before then. Refer to PBS manual for details.
Teachers in grades 3-5 will participate in training in Classscapes, a very powerful tool for creating formative assessments. Kim and I were trained yesterday and the implications are fantastic. Dates to be announced. It will truly make creating, scheduling and administering formative assessments so much easier.

Today is day 6 on the Specials calendar.
Thanks to everyone who helped out at McTeacher night last night. Everyone had a great time.
Reminders:
Please do not dismiss YMCA students before they should be called. (They are called with K-1 bus riders). Review PBS dismissal procedures. Children of staff members should be dismissed with car riders to go to their parents' room.
Ron, Kendra and Kim will be in a workshop for most of the morning. They shall be learning about Classscapes, a database for assessments.
The Rc and Rsv days at the end of the month and in March have been switched. Thursday, October 29 is now a Rc workday. Please review new staff development offerings posted in the mailroom to see if you have a mandatory workshop. (AL may be used if no workshop scheduled) Friday, October 30 is an Rsv day and since our staff did not vote to have any staff development, staff may take AL. Report cards are due no later than October 30 to be reviewed by your administrator-no exceptions. No leave on either day can be taken if report cards are not finished. There will be an mandatory excel report card workshop on Tuesday, October 27. Please sign up on line(homeroom teachers only). Today is day 5 on the specials calendar.
This morning Ron will be at a principals meeting until about noon.
Today is a busy day with a lot going on this evening. Staff meeting after school today, blog workshop for those who signed up and McDonald's night. The PTA is having a town hall/general meeting but staff presence is not required.
Speaking of the PTA, please join-our goal is 100%. The PTA is dedicating it's major expenditures this year to support teachers with supplies and materials costs not covered by the district supply list. Let's be supportive in return.
All PLC meetings will be canceled this week. Due to illness and conflicting meetings, I feel it wouldn't be appropriate to meet with some groups and not others, especially since all meetings are held during planning time. All staff may maintain their regular schedule this week.
Thanks for the comments about Curriculum night attendance. Feeding the families seems to be the consensus idea. We will work that out for next time.
Teachers may access the electronic PDP form by the link I sent earlier or going to the WSFCS homepage > Human resources>forms>scroll to teacher evaluation>follow that link to the PDP. Come by my office and I can show you if need be.
PBS corner-Trish is sharing some discipline techniques today. She is sure to give everyone great ideas. Our PBS data collection database indicates student behavior has had a dramatic change for the better. We will share the results at an upcoming meeting.
